The Shih Tzu is a compact and solid dog, their long flowing double coat is its most distinctive feature.  The work Shih Tzu means "lion" and although this dog is sweet and playful, he is not afraid to stand up for himself!  The Shih Tzu does not need a lot of exercise and is pretty mellow in nature.  A perfect fit for someone that is not very active.  They are great with children, but children under the age of 5, that can sometimes be rough, can frighten a Shih Tzu puppy.
